3 Tips for Small Home Theater Spaces

Living in a small space does not mean you can no longer enjoy the entertainment benefits from a home theater system. If you live in an apartment, you can just as easily enjoy the latest technology as a person living in a full house would. There are several options to choose from when looking for a home theater system for your small living arrangements.

Right Size

The first thing to do is find the right sized television. The last thing you want is for your TV to take over the entire room, so do not choose a size that will be too big for the space, especially if you are setting up in your bedroom. These days, HDTVs and widescreen TVs come in a large assortment of sizes, so you should have no problem find the perfect size.

Right Spot

Since you are already living in a small space, you will want to free up as much floor space as possible, and that means not putting your home theater system on the floor. You can buy a cubby hole that has enough space for the speakers and hang this on the wall. If lack of floor space is not a problem for you, you can buy a small TV stand that is equipped to hold a TV and a home theater system. Remember that this option is best only when you are not limited in floor space.

Set

When you are ready to choose the home theater system itself, go for the types that come in a boxed set. These include the DVD/CD player, the sub woofer, all of the speakers, and any other extra accessories that may be included. Wireless speakers are preferred, especially if you will be sitting them in a cubby hole; wires running up the walls will not be a very attractive option. Also, the speakers should be over 3 inches, while the sub woofer should be at least 7 inches.

If you are familiar with electronics and home theater systems, you can purchase the system components separately. This option allows for more flexibility in suiting your preferences and cutting back on space. Just remember to choose wireless components and go with styles that will match your home or room d├ęcor.

So remember that living in a small place does not prevent you from being able to enjoy movies and entertainment to the fullest. Home theater systems can be a great addition to liven up your space, listen to music, watch a movie or entertain guests. Choosing small can help you stay in budget while at the same time offering you all of the benefits of choosing big. As a matter of fact, in many cases, small living spaces are more ideal for optimum enjoyment, since the sound is distributed more effectively. Not overwhelming your space is key to making it more realistic.
